Peruvian Torch - Trichocereus peruvianus

The San Pedro is a close relative of the Peruvian torch (Trichocereus peruvianus) (Trichocereus pachanoi). With the exception of a lighter blue color and longer thorns measuring 7–10 cm (three–four inches), it has a morphology similar to the San Pedro.

Growing: A sterilized mixture of gravel, perlite, and sand is the best medium for growing this cactus. To help prevent overwatering, make sure to include tiny drainage holes in the growth container. Avoid placing the growing media directly on a heater, although the environment should be humid and ideally around 23 °C (73 oF). For the first three months, fluorescent illumination is ideal; avoid exposing the baby cacti to direct sunlight. The cacti shouldn't be planted in the ground before they've been there for a year.
